The children's festivals celebrated in Japan are Doll Festival and Children's Day. Doll Festival is celebrated by girls on the 3rd of March and Children's Day is celebrated by boys on the 5th of May.
Mothers give their daughters a set of dolls a few days before the festival. The dolls are beautifully dressed in silk and have actually been passed down from generation to generation.
