Kennedy Space Center

1. The John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida is the NASA complex where rockets are launched into space. It is a huge site, 55 kilometers long and around ten kilometers wide - much larger than Miami! It covers 567 square kilometers, and more than 8,000 people work there.

2. The complex has the world's tallest one-storey building, the impressive Vehicle Assembly Building, standing 160 meters tall. There's also a nearly five-kilometer-long Shuttle Landing Facility. Some parts are closed to the public, but you can take guided bus tours and self-guided walking tours. The Visitor Complex is open every day of the year except 25 December and on certain launch days. It is open from 9 a.m. until 5.30 p.m., although the Astronaut Hall of Fame is open until 6.30 p.m.

3. The Visitor Complex is fantastic! There's so much to see and do. You'll find something fun no matter what you like. There are museums and IMAX cinemas. The Astronaut Hall of Fame is great. It has spacecraft exhibits and cool things from space history. You can try the Shuttle Launch Simulator. It's so thrilling! In the Astronaut Simulator, you can feel like you're walking on the moon. And in the Astronaut Encounter, you can chat with real astronauts. You can also visit the rocket garden to see the first rocket US astronauts used. Climbing into models is fun, too. Some say space travel will be common by 2050!
