1. The bamboo tree has a significant role in Vietnamese culture and daily life and is a meaningful symbol of the Vietnamese spirit. It exists almost everywhere in Vietnam, though mainly in rural areas. It appears in fairy tales, folk songs, and proverbs. Here in Vietnam, and especially in the countryside, bamboo is used for everything - from chopsticks, to chairs, to agricultural tools, to roofs, to instruments and to home decorations.
2. Bamboo is also used in art and music. A series of bamboo sticks are set up in a line, with people holding them in place on either side.
